About Let’s Play in Italian
Let’s Play in Italian was founded in November 2005 by first generation Italian American Catiana Celentano. Celentano’s first language was Italian, “speaking anything other than Italian was not an option in my house growing up”. Celentano, a stay at home mother at the time, struggled to find a children’s Italian program to help her teach her own two children Italian. Discovering that there was not many options she created her own program that is now used throughout NJ.
Let’s Play in Italian is an educational program that teaches children and adults about the Italian language and culture through various techniques. Learning a second language is crucial to a young child’s development, and has many benefits for an adult as well. At Let’s Play in Italian, we offer Mommy and Me classes and full or half day pre-school and kindergarten, up to 5 days a week. We also offer after school programs for children and teens, as well as private lessons for children and adults. We even do birthday parties and have an Italian bookstore!
Let’s Play in Italian has educated families from Scotch Plains, Hoboken, Nutley, East Rutherford, Florham Park, Short Hills, Cranford, Madison, Mountainside, Summit, and Edgewater areas.
“Our mission is to educate young minds to become extraordinary people that will do extraordinary things. We measure success by the ways we touch the lives of people.”
Let’s Play in Italian has been honored as one of the recipients of an educational grant by the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) as well as a 2 time grant recipient of the Italian American Committee on Education (IACE) for it’s educational Italian programs. Let’s Play in Italian works closely with the Italian Consulate of Manhattan New York to continue to grow and promote the Italian Language and has also been featured on NJN News, America Oggi and The Italian Tribune.
